TASMAC: The most unethical B-School in India

Greetings from London. A popular destination for higher studies aspirants. I am one of the 650 students who took admission at TASMAC London school of business. Unfortunately these students have now been left high and dry since 6th October, 2011, when the college decided to shut itself down without fulfilling its prior obligations to any of the students. Get this, the students were informed about the closure after the premises had already been vacated, leaving us with no chances of confronting them on this issue.

The directors of TASMAC blame the UK Border Agency for imposing restrictions on student sponsorship as well as University of Wales decision to stop its current accreditation policy towards the end of this year. However, nobody could believe that the directors could be so ruthless as to shut the college down overnight without informing the students in advance and fulfilling its obligations. All we got was one lousy e mail from the directors saying that they have decided to liquidate the college the day after they had already made a run for it. How ethical is this coming from a business school? This is just the beginning.

Just before the college was about to shut almost all students who had to pay their dues in fees were asked to do so or threatened with the chance to miss the exams. In fact, just a week before the college shut there were numerous students who arrived in London from all over the world, these students had paid their fees, accommodation and needless to say, had a lot riding on this college. But do these directors care about these students? Of course not. All they care about is money. This issue happened in London and has been stifled down by the directors by pushing the blame on the border agency. Incidentally the website of the college still continues to boast of being one of the first Indian college to be accredited by the BAC (British Accreditation Council), one of the few ways to lure more students into joining them. No where in the website does it mention why the London operations were cancelled overnight.  All that has come out of this fiasco is spoiling India's name because of the few Idiotic Indians and the extent to which they have jeopardized the careers of hundreds of students worldwide. Furthermore, they continue to boast about providing degrees from UK, University of Wales, which is scheduled to stop its validation of degrees outside of Wales by 2012. VISA regulations are very strict in London and changing colleges is not that easy. It is a very expensive affair, which also includes re-sitting the IELTS exams. They have 60 days to find a new sponsor and a good amount of money in the bank for maintenance. In order to find the sponsor, they require the transcripts and certificates. Where will they come from when the college itself is shut and all the authorities are absconding from their roles? Its been 3 months since the college closed, I am still awaiting my transcripts. Students who were counting on applying for the Post Study Work Visa are now in a dilemma as the college is no longer in the sponsor license of UKBA- a prerequisite for applying for the work visa. All thanks to Mr. Dua and his cronies we have to find an alternative way to repay our loans. The staff of the college were also left in the dark and had not been paid for over 3 months. Excellent business practice isn't it? Needless to say the directors have long since washed their hands off any responsibility and left the students to fend for themselves with no proper point of contact.

Would you not call this an unethical institution run by reckless directors? I would think twice about joining an institution like this. If you are in India and plan to join this institute, I implore you to give this a serious thought. Look up articles on this institution in London. This is a mediocre establishment which only cares about money, without returning their obligations due to its students. If you have any further queries on this article, I will be happy to help. Please discourage any of your friends from joining this institution in India as a mark of protest. There are better options out there. There is no saying when one of these dictators wake up in the morning and decide to sell the college to a barber! Share this article with your friends and spread the word.

I hope Mr. Dua and his partners in crime have heard about Karma- it is going to knock on their doors soon.

  1. Good to see your writing. But just felt you summarised it altogether. The actual gravity of the situation was something beyond expression, am I wrong? I would try adding bit more to this some time later as now I am just trying to climb up the dampened well which I was thrown into mercilessly, purely on the basis of greed by the so-called tasmac directors. I would be contributing from my side, for sure, towards the purpose of this writing once I am completely out of the well. I had decided that some time back, its just a matter of time.
